A Van for Cody

Released Friday, February 19, 2010 ago

We are looking for a lift-equipped van for a grandmother and grandfather.

Cody at C4 on Sunday morningLet me tell you a story about a little boy named Cody. Cody was born 8 years ago via emergency Cesarian Section. The umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck, and if the doctors had not acted quickly he would have died. In fact, it was a close call. However, the loss of blood to his brain permanently disabled him with Cerebral Palsy. Cody does not have any control over his four limbs, and he cannot talk.

When Cody was just six months old, his mother got up in the middle of the night to feed him, suffered a massive heart attack, and passed away. Stan and Marion, Cody's grandparents, took him home that very night and have been his primary caregivers ever since. Because Cody has no motor functions, they must feed him, clothe him, wipe his mouth, bathe him, and basically care for him as if he was an infant.

The state offers some assistance; however, what Stan and Marion need most is a lift-equipped van. A pre-owned, lift-equipped van in good condition will cost about $17,000.

We believe God has given us the vision to raise the needed funds for this van, and so we are asking for your help. You can call 919-851-5958 and talk to our Senior Minister, Jon Miller. Click here to give online. Be sure to click on the "Cody Fund" from the pull down menu.  All gifts are tax-deductible. Our church treasurer can provide you the proper documentation for your records.

Please help Cody's grandparents. Thank you.

We are in the early stages of this project. If you would like to help us get the word out (through Facebook, Craigslist postings in other cities, etc.) please e-mail Patrick at patrickhvacre@gmail.com.
