Context

C4’s vision is to become a regional church of 10,000 meeting the emotional, physical and spiritual needs of people in Jesus name. The following staff position is critical in helping ministries execute on the fulfillment of that vision.

Role

The Groups and Congregational Care Pastor will focus on the implementation of all Groups and Care related ministries at C4. Specifically the Groups and Congregational Care Pastor will be accountable for C4’s Groups delivery systems and multi-tiered Care delivery systems across all sites.

Reporting

  • Reports to: Executive Pastor, Ministries.

  • Direct reports: Pastoral Care Administrator, Associate Care Pastor

Requirements

  • Theologically sound and able to answer deep theological questions

  • Fully aligned with the mission, vision and values of C4

  • Spiritual maturity to be part of our Ministries team

  • Excellent relational skills with a professional approach to relationships

  • Exceptional administrative and organizational skills with attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and adapt to constant change

  • Able to handle conflict situations with grace and wisdom

  • Able to interact with other C4 ministries and demonstrate solid team player skills

  • Social media savvy

Education and Experience

  • A minimum of 5+ years experience as a staff member in a ministry leadership capacity or equivalent

  • Minimum requirement of a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical studies, Counseling or related field is required.

  • Appropriate professional credentials based on current or prior roles

  • Must have experience in the following: support, recovery, addictions, mental health, marital crisis, counselling, team building

  • A strong leader with a solid work ethic and ability to lead a team of volunteers empowering them to effectively care for a large (3000+) and growing congregation

    Care Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing and growing the multi-site, multi-tiered Care strategy for our adult C4 constituents

  • Continue to leverage our Connect groups as the primary vehicle of Care delivery across our church

  • Recruit, support and deploy effective volunteer ministry leaders to oversee each area of C4’s care strategy

  • Act as a church-wide spokesperson for Care ministries at C4

  • Ensure that a biblically sound, relevant, adult care related educational system is delivered with excellence. (Marriage, Divorce, Recovery, Grief etc.)

  • Grow Care offerings such as Freedom Sessions

  • Oversee pre-marital counseling

  • Provide biblical, pastoral counselling to those in need.

  • Work with outside counselling agencies as referrals for ongoing counselling needs

    Groups Responsibilities

  • Take the lead role in continuing to implement the groups model within the overarching discipleship model

  • Responsible for implementing a church wide small group ministry for our adult constituents.

  • Provide ongoing leadership and coaching to Group leaders

  • Meet with congregants as required including exit interviews

  • Recruit, train and support all levels of leadership for the small group ministry.

  • Recommend and/or prepare small group teaching materials.

  • Recruit, support and deploy effective volunteer ministry leaders to oversee the group ministry

  • Ensure that a biblically sound, accessible, relevant, adult educational system is delivered with excellence.

    Leadership Responsibilities

  • Attend all staff meetings.

  • Supervise admin/support staff assigned to this ministry area.

  • Personal planning of tasks, priorities and work schedule.

  • Budget preparation and financial management of ministry area.

  • Teaching/Preaching as assigned.
