This Week's Readings

This Week's Reading Text

  • This week’s Bible Reading: 2 Samuel (1-24)

  • This Week’s Reflection and prayer: Proverbs 1-10

It’s our challenge this year to read through the entire Bible.  "Our Journey Home" is the title for our Journey from the Book of Exodus though to Joshua, Judges & Ruth. Here we encounter the story of Israel journeying out of Egypt, through the wilderness to eventually settle in Canaan, their promised land. In many ways this shows us about our very own Christian journey after being delivered by Christ from bondage,  journeying and growing in our wilderness experiences until we mature and posses our full inheritance in Christ. So, as we read, there are some exciting parallels we get to glean from the stories of Israel. So pay attention to that as  you read.

This week we are reading 2 Samuel. In 2 Samuel, David becomes God's most faithful king, but then rebels, resulting in the slow destruction of his family and kingdom. There are lots of interesting stories in this book. We also are beginning to read the book of Proverbs, which is filled with pieces of wisdom.

We hope you learn valuable things in your time spent in Scripture this week. Remember to write down your questions as you read and continue to ask God for more clarity and understanding as you read. We will be praying that God would give you the desire, clarity and the time to read His word this week.
